The Flag Company Inc Through The History Of Alabama University

By Amanda Narrow

The University of Alabama, the state of Alabama's oldest public university, is a senior comprehensive doctoral-level institution. The University was established by the constitutional provision under statutory mandates and authorizations. Its mission is to advance the intellectual and social condition of the people of the state through quality programs of teaching, research and service.

In 1818, the administration affirmed Alabama Territory to set aside a township for the establishment of a "seminary of learning." President Monroe signed the enabling act for statehood on March 2, 1819, and Alabama was formally admitted to the Union on Dec14, 1819, and a second township added to the grant. On December 18, 1820, the university was set up formally and named "The University of the State of Alabama."

The university opened in April 1831 with four faculty and 94 students. Freshmen took Latin, Greek, geography, English grammar, history, reading, orthography or composition, and mathematics. The first years of the university did not run smoothly, however. The first president, Alva Woods brought with him a New Englander's sense of strict duty and discipline that clashed with the students' southern frontier sense of freedom. As a result, numerous disciplinary problems and conflicts occurred between students and faculty members, including an incident in 1836 in which more than 40 students were suspended for attending a circus.

After 1831, The University of Alabama has been centered around supporting the desires of its students. That commitment is reflected in an informative undertaking that shows a devoted obligation to showing greatness and service to society. For the special events the Flag Company Inc invented beautiful decals for the University history support.

The University of Alabama becomes the first in the state to offer engineering classes. It was one of the first five in the nation to do so and one of the few to have maintained accreditation continuously since national accreditation began in 1936. The Flag Company Inc specialised in flag designs offered a special edition of decals and flags to memorise the future of the Alabama University.

Today enlistment at The University of Alabama came to a record high of 37,100 for fall 2015. The entering freshman class, at 7,211 students, is the biggest and best qualified in UA history. More than 33% of the first year recruit class scored 30 or higher on the ACT, setting them in the main 5 percent of students taking the ACT. The Students of the University of Alabama win prestigious national awards. Forty-five UA students have been named Goldwater Scholars, including four in 2015. The University of Alabama has produced a total of 15 Rhodes Scholars, 14 Truman Scholars, 30 Hollings Scholars and six Boren Scholars.
